PEACE 4 P@LESTINE INITIATIVE
The Peace 4 P@lestine initiative started in response to the 11-day military offensive launched by Isr@el in May 2021 on the occupied G@za Strip. The assault killed at least 260 people, including 39 women and 67 children, and wounded more than 1,900. The bombardment also destroyed 1,800 residential units and partially demolished at least 14,300 other units. It was the fourth major offensive launched by Isr@el on the P@lestinian territory in 14 years, compounding the already dire living conditions and the high rates of poverty and unemployment in G@za which had been under an Isr@eli-Egyptian blockade since 2007.
As of this date (06/01/24), according to UN OCHA: more than 36,050 P@lestinians have been killed, and more than 81,061 injured by Isr@eli forces…these numbers do not include the thousands still missing under rubble. More than 70,000 housing units have been destroyed, 1.7 million P@lestinians displaced in G@za. No fully-functioning hospitals remain in G@za. In the West Bank, 464+ buildings have been destroyed and 872+ P@lestinians have been displaced. in the West Bank. On 2/16/24 the UN Population fund stated “if the bombs don’t kill pregnant women, if disease, hunger and dehydration don’t catch up with them, simply giving birth could.”
As a first-generation P@lestinian-American artist and child of PTSD-debilitated survivor of the 1948 Lydda Massacre and Death March—I want to bring caring minds together from my creative community to collaborate and help draw attention to the current and decades-long human rights nightmare taking place. With each initiative, we use our skills and combined networks-reach to raise funds for organizations putting in the work to help feed, heal, rescue and organize/amplify voices, while creating conduits (walking billboard-acreenprinted apparel, functional devices, etc.) for connecting with others, expanding community and sustaining attention to the ongoing catastrophe.
ZAYTONE
(derived from the Arabic word for “olive”- zaytun /zaytoun / zeitoun)
The Zaytone is a collaborative effort between Brooklyn neighbors, fellow musicians, and pals: Pal-Am multimedia artist Michael Hambouz and hand-built effects pedal-builder Tony Hall / Balls Effects .
THE CAUSE
This collaboration is dedicated to helping build awareness and crucial aid at a very critical moment. $120 from every pedal sale will be split evenly between two charities:
The Delia Arts Foundation provides refuge to displaced local artists and their families while actively preserving the Palestinian cultural heritage.
MAP (Medical Aid for Palestine) provides immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
THE PEDAL
The Zaytone is firmly rooted in the Arbiter Fuzz King (a rarity, and Hambouz’s longtime personal favorite pedal- fittingly distinct, powerful, with long sustain) / Sola Sound Supa Tonebender lineage. The units will be in a pedalboard-friendly format with standard LED and 9V external power source, as well as onboard battery. (more technical specs available on site- via pre-order button below)
SALE & DELIVERY
This is a pre-sale effort which will be open until Friday, June 14th. Following the closure of the sale, all units will be built and shipped within six weeks.
