ObjectsOfDesire.jpg

During a recent consultation session with a psychic medium, I linked my smoking addiction back to the approximate moment that I first picked up a guitar and started playing in bands as a teenager in the 90’s. To explore this unfortunate marriage of vices, I recreated my very first effects pedals and brand of cigarettes—providing a positive and tactile distraction (no free hands to smoke), while connecting my passion for clay sculpture in the 90’s with my more recent processes and mediums (Fauna, Betwixt, and Factory Made). The sculptural works in this series represent the power of reclaiming self-control and providing new, positive and non-carcongenic creative pathways. I revisit this series when dissecting and processing other symbols and objects from my past is in order.
